The beginning of the school could trace in the early 1960, when the first President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah visited Atibie to officially open the Atibie Hospital. At the function, the late President saw there is no secondary school in the area, so there is a need to set up a new SHS.
With no doubt, when the government was considering a number of schools to be established under the Education Trust Project, Mpreaso Secondary School came up unto the drawing board. Nana Dassebre Akuamoah Boateng II, Kwahuhene, readily accepted the sitting of the School at Mpreaso and took keen interest in its establishment.


The then chief of Mpreaso, Nana Kofi Ampadu eagerly gave the piece of land on which the school is built. Instrumental in making the dream a reality was also the then Members of Parliament for Kawhu; Hon W.A. Wiafe and Hon E.I. Preko.
The school current has 2000+ students and 150+ staff teaching and non- teaching, while the school has produced quality and highly skilled human resources for the total development of the country since her establishment. The objective of the school is best expressed through its MOTTO ? SUMMUM BONUM ? THE HIGHEST GOOD. The motto enjoins all who are privileged to pass through the walls of MPASS not to be content with mediocrity but to strive after excellence in all spheres of life.
The current Headmistress of the school Madam Leticia Atua-Baadu in an interview said the school has good track records by scoring 100% in all the subjects with appreciate performances in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science, and has won many competition awards, also Discipline in the school improved tremendously, few disciplinary problems are encountered these days and they are dealt with swiftly.
According to him, a lot of facilities have been provided both by the PTA and the government; furniture for the staff common room, and offices, renovations of bungalows, erection of a wall to protect the school land, the construction of staff quarters to accommodate five members of staff, the provision of a cold room to fish, meat and perishables among other things.


Madam Leticia Atua-Baadu expresses that he will do everything possible to achieved the aim and vision of the school, and as far as results of the WASSCE candidates are concerned will have to been commendable since he took the position as Headmaster, and therefore appeal to help the government to help the school to move ahead in terms of completion infrastructures and more vehicles for Administrative works.
